John Mongan, MD, PhD is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair of Translational Informatics for the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at UC San Francisco. Along with the Associate Chair of Clinical Informatics, he supervises a team of approximately 20 IT professionals who provide clinical, translational and research digital medical imaging infrastructure and applications to the UCSF Medical Center.

He is a director of the UCSF Center for Intelligent Imaging (Ci2) and his research focuses on medical applications of artificial intelligence. Dr. Mongan is also the in-coming Chair of the Machine Learning committee of the Radiological Society of North America. He is the lead author of Programming Interviews Exposed, now in its fourth edition and holds three computer software-related patents.

Dr. Mongan holds a PhD in Bioinformatics with thesis work in supercomputer molecular simulation. He is board certified in Radiology and Clinical Informatics.
