Shelisa Foster, M.A., L.P.C., is Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Bergen County Care Management Organization, Bergen\u2019s Promise and is an accomplished professional who has been serving the mental health needs of our youth for more than 20 years. In her role as COO, she manages the overall operations that each day serves the needs of more than 1200 youth and their families who are confronted with behavioral\/emotional challenges or intellectual\/developmental delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her passion for leadership and coaching has allowed her to serve as an advisory board member for Children\u2019s Aid and Family Services \u201cStrengthening Families\u201d program and the Rainbow Cafe of Northern New Jersey; a support and social group for lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex and asexual (LGBTQQIA) youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Committed to raising awareness of the prevalence of mental illness in our communities, Shelisa serves as a task force member for the Bergen County Stigma Free Initiative and is Vice-Chair of her hometown Stigma Free committee. Ms. Foster has been an invited speaker at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine on topics including \u201cRecognizing and Responding with Stigma Free Support\u201d and \u201cUsing a Wraparound Lens to View and Meet the Health Needs of Families\u201d. In 2019, she co-authored the article entitled \u201cWrapping Around Integrated Care\u201d featured in the Fall edition of Behavioral Health News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Foster is a proud recipient of the 2020 award for \u201cOutstanding Leadership in Children\u2019s Services\u201d recognized by the New Jersey Association of Mental Health and Addiction Agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Foster received her Master of Arts degree in clinical psychology from the Arizona School of Professional Psychology. In addition to her academic credentials, Ms. Foster is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Certified Counselor, New Jersey certified Disaster Response and Crisis Counselor and a certified advanced trainer of the Nurtured Heart Approach \u00ae.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
