Gopi Kolli is Vice President, Client Computing Group (CCG) and General Manager, Platform Software Engineering at Intel Corporation. He and his team are responsible for delivering platform software, firmware, and multi-OS solutions across all client products, and partners with internal silicon teams and Microsoft to bring new technologies and experiences to market.
Before assuming his current role in 2016, Gopi led software and firmware teams within Intel’s Mobile and Communications Group (MCG) and prior to that, Ultra Mobility Group (UMG) delivering to a broad portfolio of products such as phones, tablets, wearables, drones, and embedded devices. Earlier in his extensive Intel career, he led the development of Intel’s first Linux OS based 3G smartphone in the Cellular and Handheld Group (CHG).
Prior to that, he was the architect and lead engineer for graphics and wireless communications for Intel® XScale™ microarchitecture-based phones and personal device assistants. Gopi has earned an Intel Achievement Award, Intel Quality Award, and led his teams to win the prestigious Intel Software Quality Award three times. He holds four U.S. patents and authored several papers and publications.
Gopi holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from School of Planning and Architecture, Hyderabad, a master’s in computer science from Arizona State University, and another master’s in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts. He lives in California with his wife and two daughters who are both accomplished chess players. In his spare time, he supports several chess organizations focusing on enrichment of the game, especially among girls.
