As Chief Information Officer (CIO), Steve is responsible to plan, organize, and direct the County’s overall information technology effort and investment.
Public CIO Magazine with the California State CIO Academy named Steve California CIO of the Year and the Center for Digital Government presented Steve their Top 25 Doers, Dreamers, and Drivers of Technology in Government award. The California County Information Services Directors Association(CCISDA) gave Steve their Visionary Award for IT Leadership. The County of Nevada has received numerous awards for technology leadership and excellence such as placing first place in Government Technology Magazine’s National Digital Counties Survey four times, ranking in the top five slots for 16 consecutive years under Steve’s tenure.
Steve came to Nevada County in April 1999 from his previous position for nine years as a founding principle in a Sacramento area corporate focused information technology services and consulting firm.
Steve has a bachelor degree in Computer Science (CSUC) and a minor in Business Administration. He holds various industry certifications that include Certified Government Chief Information Officer, Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control, Certified Information Systems Auditor, and Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT. Steve is a CSAC Credentialed County Executive, CSAC Fellow, and lead the effort to create the CSAC/CCISDA County Technology Executive Credential program.
