Uzma has been practicing law for the past 15 years. She began her career in Canada as a prosecutor where her focus was on commercial crime. She transitioned to private practice with a focus on commercial law/litigation, privacy law, and employment law.

Since 2019 Uzma has been at the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) in the role of Assistant Counsel. At VTA she is the lead counsel on matters related to commercial transactions, procurement, privacy, and intellectual property. Uzma works with a variety of different departments within VTA and counsels internal stakeholders in relation to privacy matters, compliance, negotiation tactics, risk management and risk allocation, optics management, and business strategies.
