Ethan Veneklasen serves as Head of Advocacy and Communications at ID2020.

ID2020 is a public-private partnership that brings together corporations, governments, and civil society organizations to promote the development and ethical implementation of privacy-protecting, user-controlled, and portable digital ID solutions.

With more than 25 years of experience in communications, public policy, and international development, Ethan most recently led strategic and crisis communications at the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency. Over the course of his career, he has also served as Executive Director-West Coast at the American India Foundation, where he oversaw the Digital Equalizer program and Clinton Fellowship for Service in India, and as Director of Development and Communications at Freedom from Hunger (now part of the Grameen Foundation).

A graduate of the University of Rochester, Ethan lives in California with his wife and two dogs.
