Joyce has over 20 years of leadership experience in government, the private sector, and as an entrepreneur. She has her M.A.Ed. in Adult Learning Theory and 30+ years of training program design and facilitation. For several years she has judged Chief Learning Officer magazine’s Learning Elite Awards, which honor the best organizations for learning and development.
Most recently Joyce was the Training Operations Manager at Covered California. She was the inaugural manager in the role, initiating their training compliance program to align with mandated requirements. During her tenure she completed a State Personnel Board audit while also maintaining service levels to 38K+ active users of the Learning Management System (LMS). She implemented a data integrity policy, verifying the records of over 60,000 users, past and present.
Prior to the State, Joyce worked in healthcare and law firms. While in healthcare, she developed an Electronic Health Records (EHR) training program for over 2K providers and staff. She managed an EHR internal team and external consultants, providing program management over a yearlong, multimillion-dollar software upgrade.
Joyce spent many years both on staff and contracting in law firms, developing training programs, facilitating courses, and providing support both in person and remotely. During her entrepreneurial years, she often employed staff to assist with her clients. One interesting assignment was transcribing radio show broadcasts for a nationally syndicated program, along with updating their website.
The common thread among her roles has been helping other people to feel less frustration and stress in their work. She is a lifelong learner with a passion for developing leaders who increase staff motivation and retention. She truly believes in treating people as you wish to be treated. Her fulfillment comes from helping others to achieve their goals.
