Since I was young, I always knew that I wanted a career in STEM. To this degree, I focused on the appropriate classwork, courses and opportunities. This led me to obtain my Bachelor’s in Biochemistry and a doctorate in Organic Chemistry. From graduate school I was able to start my career as a scientist in the realm of cancer diagnostics, beginning in a small company which was later purchased by Roche Diagnostics.
From that I moved on towards a’her small company which was later purchased by Bio-Techne. Currently, I am working at a’her small company (my 3rd in 20 years). Throughout this time I was involved in a number of amazing projects which were developed into technologies that are being used in a wide range of areas, from hospitals to companies investigating new treatments for patients.
I love what I do, and am always thinking of new innovative approaches to the diagnostic field. In terms of leadership, I have acted as a manager, a mentor and a leader, all rewarding in their own rights. I have also had the pleasure of setting up internship programs at the companies I have worked at, taking the opportunity to bring in students to experience what they have learned in an industrial environment. My desire is to take the love of mentoring and bring that into this program.
